Welcome to my web site, a home for the modern druid. I practice Andean, Druidic and Northern European shamanism and was trained by Andean Shamans in Bolivia and Peru where I lived for over five years.
Shamanism is a healing practice, a way of life, and a spiritual practice that is found in cultures around the world from ancient times up to the present. It is a way to connect with nature, and all of creation. Creation includes the physical world that we live in but it also includes the unseen spirits and entities that exist with and around us. Shamanic practices are practical and adaptable. These practices have coexisted over millennia with varying cultures, systems of government, and organized religious practices. Shamanism, per se, is not a religious practice but a set of tools that can enrich life and spiritual practices.
Many formal religions, from Buddhism to Christianity, have ancient shamanic roots and still bear the shamanic threads of deep connection to the divine in all things. However, shamanism itself is not a formalized system of beliefs or an ideology. Rather, it is a group of activities and experiences (tools) shared by shamans in cultures around the world. The practices that are common to many traditions are frequently combined into "core" shamanism. One practice that is found in many shamanic traditions is that of journeying.
Here is a link to the first of a series of blog posts on core shamanic practices.
